Balance transfer calculator

Same monthly payment, two paths: stay at your APR, or pay a fee and ride a promo. Related: when a 0% transfer saves money · payoff calculator · avalanche vs snowball. Optional: tip / support.

Quick answer: This calculator compares staying on your current APR with moving the balance to a 0% window. It adds the transfer fee up front, then charges the go-to APR after the promo months you type.

Interest is the monthly rate (APR ÷ 12) on the unpaid balance. The transfer fee is added to the balance up front. Promo months are 0%, then the go-to APR you type. Issuers can void 0% after a late payment. Educational only.

What this means for you

What this means for you: the fee is a cost even when the promo rate is zero. The payment-to-finish line is the fee-included balance divided by the promo months. A late payment can void a real promo; this page cannot see that.

How to use this calculator

  2. Read the headline figure first, then the breakdown or chart under it.

FAQ

How is the transfer fee applied?

It is added to the balance at the start, before the 0% months.

What happens after the promo?

The model charges the go-to APR you typed on whatever is left.

Does a 0% offer always stay 0%?

Not if the issuer voids it. This page does not model a late-payment penalty.
